Seminar, 2 semester hours Content: Effective planning, implementation, and presentation of scientific projects in biostatistical methodology and related research fields (e.g. statistical methods in epidemiology, medical informatics, etc.) Objective: Students should gain the necessary expertise for autonomously performing scientific projects in the field of biostatistics. Besides the organisational and content-related aspects of project work, the focus is on the preparation and presentation of research papers in a technically correct manner. Requirement: advanced study phase in medicine, statistics, medical informatics or the like, interest in theoretical and/or applied biostatistical research questions, sound basic knowledge of statistics, ability to use a statistical software package (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R, Stata)
Contents: theoretical and/or applied topics in biostatistics and neighbouring scientific fields (e.g. epidemiology, medical informatics)
Objectives: deeper understanding of the chosen topic
Assessment: seminar paper and/or presentation
