Welcome to the Section for Clinical Biometrics

Clinical Biometrics is the methodology of empirical clinical research.

The section, founded in 1991, provides biostatistical support to clinical research and develops innovative methodology for biostatistical applications.
Biostatistical consultation for clinical projects is available by appointment during regular business hours.

Current lectures of the section are announced by the Wiener Biometrische Sektion.

Conference: The Section for Clinical Biometrics is taking lead in the local organization of the CEN-ISBS Vienna 2017! This conference is jointly organized by the International Biometric Society’s Central European Network (CEN) and the International Society for Biopharmaceutical Statistics (ISBS). The conference will take place at the Medical University of Vienna from August 28 to September 1, 2017. Details about the conference can be found at the website

Habilitation: In April 2017, Daniela Dunkler successfully defended her habilitation thesis “Algorithmic approaches to Statistical Modeling in Etiologic and Prognostic Research“. She was granted the venia docendi in „Medical Statistics and Public Health“. Her cumulative thesis comprises nine original articles as first author and several contributions as co-author.

Award: At the PhD Symposium 2017 of the Young Scientist Association of the Medical University of Vienna Christine Wallisch received the Oral Presentation Award for Outstanding Work in Science, Research and Presentation for her paper ‘Challenges in updating prediction models with time-to-event data’. She will present this work also at the ISCB conference in Vigo, Spain, in July 2017.
