Up to now single data modalities of data (gene-expression, sequence, molecular images, etc.) are often analyzed seperately. In contrast, MI4pMM aims at providing integrated data from various sources, analyzed by various tools, and thus readily usable for systems medicine. Infrastructure is provided via MUW-MI (MUW-Medical Informatics).
One stronghold of MedUni@AKH (compared to other, non-patient caring research institutions) will be fostered, namely investigations on genome-phenotype-relations.
Data integration, as outlined above, is typically an infrastructural task, which can neither be financed via research grants, nor implemented by single institutions. It is understood as the very meaning of a "Center", such as the CeMSIIS, to enable cross-institutional informatics and house-wide IT-infrastructure for biomedical research projects.
